Rodolphe Fischmeister is awarded the Naranjan Dhalla Honorary Lecture Medal by the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences
Rodolphe Fischmeister was awarded the Naranjan Dhalla Honorary Lecture Medal by the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences at an annual congress held in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Rodolphe Fischmeister is an emeritus INSERM research director at the Laboratory of Signalling and Cardiovascular Pathophysiology (CARPAT – Univ. Paris-Saclay/Inserm), linked to the Faculty of Pharmacy at Université Paris-Saclay. He was awarded the Naranjan Dhalla Honorary Lecture Medal during the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences’ annual congress, which took place in Bratislava (Slovakia) from 28 to 30 October 2024.
Rodolphe Fischmeister's work focuses on the neuroendocrine regulation of normal and pathological cardiac function, cardiac membrane receptors and their signalling cascades, and the cellular control of ion channels. By combining organ physiology, cellular electrophysiology, fluorescence imaging, molecular biology and biochemistry, he has unveiled major paradigms in cardiac pathophysiology which have become pillars of current knowledge. He has received numerous awards for his work in France and internationally.
The Naranjan Dhalla Honorary Lecture Medal is awarded by the European Section of the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences to high-level researchers.
The French National Academy of Pharmacy Award of Honour
Rodolphe Fischmeister also received the Award of Honour from the French National Academy of Pharmacy on Wednesday 18 December 2024 for his work in fields related to the Academy’s areas of expertise. Former Vice Dean for research at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Université Paris-Sud from 2015 to 2020, he was head of the life sciences department at the Université Paris-Saclay COMUE from 2016 to 2020 and Deputy Vice President for research in life sciences at Université Paris-Saclay from 2020 to 2022. Rodolphe Fischmeister created the CARPAT unit at the Faculty of Pharmacy in 1993, which he managed until 2014, and later the Institut Paris-Sud d'Innovation Thérapeutique (IPSIT), which he managed from 1998 to 2001, from 2006 to 2010 and from 2015 to 2019 (now known as the Engineering and services for therapeutic innovation unit – IPSIT (Univ. Paris-Saclay/Inserm/CNRS)). He also created the Laboratory of Excellence in Research on Medication and Innovative Therapeutics (LabEx LERMIT), which he ran from 2011 to 2022.
The Award of Honour from the French National Academy of Pharmacy is awarded to a pharmacist, or other, aged over 65, in recognition of their work of career in fields related to the Academy’s areas of expertise.
