International Engagement Webinar: How to better inhabit the earth?

2022-03-25 13:30 2022-03-25 16:00 International Engagement Webinar: How to better inhabit the earth?

Organised by the University’s language & interculturality coordinators, the next international engagement webinar will take place on Friday 25 March, from 1.30 to 4pm.

How to better inhabit the earth is becoming a recurring question that many humans around the world are asking in the face of growing anxiety related to the consequences of the Anthropocene. This crucial question, however, goes beyond, and at the same time, is anchored in a defined cultural context - the one in which people live concretely.

How then do we link biodiversity more explicitly and efficiently to cultural diversity in educational programmes?
What could be the contribution of intercultural education to promote the goal of sustainable development and in a more general sense, bring about the ecological transition?

In this lecture, the innovative notions of biocultural diversity, systemic critical analysis, and ecological intercultural didactics will be presented to analyse educational challenges brought about by climate change. The theoretical presentations will be combined with practical exercises to enrich our pedagogical experience.

The webinar will be led by Frédérique Brossard Børhaug, Professor of Education at VID Specialized University, Stavanger in Norway.

A simultaneous translation service (French/English) will be provided throughout the event.
