M2 Diplomacy and Strategic Negotiations
The legal and economic tools required for a good understanding of the diplomatic game will also be contextualised and put into situation through case studies.
The second aim is for students to work on concrete empirical cases: this takes the form of various seminars that give students career plan guidance; a compulsory internship; and a mock negotiation exercise, which takes place in partnership with partner universities in other countries.
The main objective of this Master's programme is to lead graduates directly into working life, preparing them for professions in diplomacy/security and prevention (public and private diplomacy, security-prevention department within think tanks that specialise in international relations, security engineering with public or private actors, army, police, French "gendarmerie") as well as analytical jobs in private and public organisations (country risk analysis, study managers, etc.). On the academic side, many organisations – particularly think tanks in Europe – recruit researchers to participate in research on the dynamics of international conflict/cooperation: IRSEM, IFRI, IRIS, FRS, DAS, etc. Finally, this course covers matters of global diplomacy (economic, financial, environmental, security) and can, for instance, train analysts to work in the banks or companies of at-risk countries. Moreover, this course offers continuous training for diplomats or army officers.
