Présentation du laboratoire

Le DAp (Département d'Astrophysique), unité mixte de recherche au sein de l'Irfu, constitue un laboratoire spatial majeur reconnu au niveau international.
Il est fortement impliqué dans de nombreux projets de recherche couvrant les domaines de l'astrophysique, l'instrumentation et la simulation numérique. En particulier, le laboratoire réalise et exploite des instruments installés sur les grands télescopes ou bien embarqués sur satellites dans l'espace (en orbite basse, aux points de Lagrange, autour de Saturne, ...) dans le cadre des missions spatiales ou bilatérales. Le DAp a également accès aux plus grands ordinateurs d'Europe pour ses simulations numériques basées sur l'analyse « multi-échelle » (de l'échelle des planètes aux amas de galaxies) qui permettent de retracer la structuration de l'univers au fil du temps. Le laboratoire s'appuie aussi sur une expertise technique pointue dans le domaine de l'architecture système, de la qualité, de l'électronique et des spectro-imageurs spatiaux.
